Dental education encompasses knowledge of various oral and maxillofacial diseases imparted as part of the dental curriculum. Due to the extensive nature of disorders that could affect the head and neck region and time constraints, students and later dental professionals, are limited in their ability to develop a comprehensive, systematic and coherent method to interpret radiographic images for effective diagnosis. The goal of this special edition is to introduce radiographic interpretation in dentistry to the readers and emphasize the value of this task for dental and dental hygiene professionals in training. We hope and believe that this special edition and the articles of educational research contained therein will give an insight into the nuances involving teaching the art and science of radiographic interpretation as it implies to the training future dental professionals.
