Colon cancer is a common gastrointestinal cancer. Colon cancer can be prevented by early detection and resection of the pre-malignant colon polyps. Colonoscopy has been the mainstay endoscopic procedure to diagnose and prevent colon cancer. However, this can be expensive which can impact its availability to the general population. It is important to find a screening technique that is high quality and can be offered at an affordable cost to the general population. This special edition aims to publish articles pertaining to advanced imaging techniques being used to detect colon polyps and predict their histology to prevent colon cancer. We call upon GI physicians to contribute to this important topic.
