Biography

Dr. Shobha Rao is an Associate Professor in the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. She graduated from the Family Medicine Residency Program at the University Of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. She completed Geriatric Medicine Fellowship from University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia. She is board certified in Family Medicine, Geriatrics, and Hospice & Palliative Medicine. Dr. Rao is the Director of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program. She has published several evidence based reviews in peer reviewed journals. Medical students and the residents have honored her with several teaching awards during her tenure as academic physician. She is also the recipient of the Texas Academy of Family Physicians teaching and excellence award in 2009, and the Deans teaching excellence award at University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston in 2014.

Research Interest

Her research interests include: Education, leadership and development in palliative medicine.
