Biography

Dr. Martel is an Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education and Clinical Professor at California Northstate College of Medicine, as well as Medical Director of Martel Eye Medical Group. He is a board certified ophthalmologist that covers five different hospitals, including two trauma centers, in the Sacramento area.
Dr. Martel graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1981 and completed his Master of Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health in the same year. Following his internship at Beth Israel Hospital, he completed his Johns Hopkins ophthalmology residency at the renowned Wilmer Eye Institute.

Research Interest

His research interests include: Ophthalmology, trauma and emergency medicine, and critical care.
