Review procedure
The review procedure for the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine - Open Journal (PLMOJ) follows a rigorous process designed to ensure the quality and credibility of the manuscripts published. Authors begin by submitting their manuscripts electronically via the journal’s online system. Upon submission, the editorial office conducts an initial check to ensure that the manuscript aligns with the journal’s scope and meets formatting requirements. At this stage, the journal also performs a plagiarism check to maintain the integrity of the published content. Manuscripts that fail to meet these basic criteria, or present ethical concerns, are rejected early in the process.
Once the manuscript passes the preliminary screening, it is sent to at least two external peer reviewers. These reviewers are experts in the fields of pathology or laboratory medicine, and they evaluate the scientific merit, methodology, originality, and relevance of the research. Their feedback includes suggestions for improving the manuscript's clarity, data interpretation, and overall quality. Authors are then required to revise their manuscript based on the feedback received and submit a detailed response to the reviewers' comments.
After the revisions are submitted, the manuscript is re-evaluated by the editor-in-chief and, in some cases, additional peer reviewers. If the manuscript meets the journal’s standards after revisions, it is accepted for publication. If further revisions are required, the process is repeated until the manuscript satisfies all necessary requirements. Once accepted, the manuscript undergoes copyediting, formatting, and proofing before being published online. As an open-access journal, PLMOJ ensures that all published articles are freely available to readers worldwide, contributing to the broader dissemination of research in the field of pathology and laboratory medicine.
