Review procedure

The review procedure for the Journal of Otolaryngology - Open Journal (OTLOJ) is designed to uphold rigorous academic standards and ensure the publication of high-quality research in the field of otolaryngology. The process begins with authors submitting their manuscripts through the journal's online submission system. Once submitted, the editorial team performs an initial screening to verify that the manuscript complies with the journal’s scope, formatting guidelines, and ethical standards. This preliminary check also includes plagiarism detection to ensure the integrity of the research. Manuscripts that pass this initial screening are then forwarded to the peer review stage.

In the peer review process, the manuscript is sent to at least two independent experts in the field of otolaryngology or related medical disciplines. These experts assess the scientific merit of the study, including the originality of the research, the methodology used, and the relevance and clarity of the findings. Reviewers provide detailed feedback and suggestions for improvement, which may involve revising sections of the manuscript for better clarity, improving the statistical analysis, or addressing any potential flaws in the research design. The authors are then required to revise their manuscript based on the reviewers’ comments, providing a detailed response that outlines how each comment has been addressed.

After the revised manuscript is submitted, the editorial team, along with the reviewers, re-evaluates the manuscript. If the manuscript satisfies the journal's standards after the revisions, it is accepted for publication. If further revisions are necessary, the process is repeated until the manuscript meets the required quality. Once accepted, the manuscript undergoes copyediting, formatting, and proofreading before being published online. As an open-access journal, the OTLOJ ensures that all published articles are freely accessible to the global medical community, enhancing the dissemination of knowledge in the field of otolaryngology. This comprehensive review procedure ensures that only well-reviewed, high-quality research is published, contributing to the advancement of the field.
