Dr. Chen received his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, USA. He subsequently joined the Center for Biomedical Engineering, National Taiwan University, Taiwan, where he served as a Research Assistant Professor. He is currently a Professor and the Director of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, National Taiwan University, Taiwan. He is also a PI of the Molecular Imaging Center, National Taiwan University, where he leads the Infra-red Core Laboratory aiming to develop new IR imaging technologies for various medical applications. He had served as the conference chair, a program committee member, or an organizing committee member for several international conferences. He is currently an Associate Editor of the Journal Biomedical Engineering-Applications, Basis and Communications. He has published 87 journal papers and 122 conference papers. He is a member of the IEEE.

His research interests include: Medical image analysis, Computer-aided detection, Diagnosis and therapy, IR medical imaging, Bioinformatics and Medical electronics.
